A WatCh NiGhT SerViCe RefLeCtiOn

"Watch me," he told them. "Follow my lead. When I get to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do. Judges 7:17

Camp  signifying preparing for battle. How many times in my life.. have I felt that life was just like a battle ground. At battle between god and evil. The spiritual and natural, wanting to do the things of God and fighting against doing the things of the world. The bible says clearly that one man cannot serve two masters. If I am friends with the world, I am an enemy with God. Life is a constant battle, without life’s manual, it will only end me up with chaos and more chaos… just like ball of string all entangled, unidentifiable which is the head which is the tail.
Life. A battle ground… between obeying the voice of God in my heart and obeying my parents. Many times they try to find what’s best for me. But what about if God is bringing me through a test? Putting me in hot soup so that I can learn how to depend on God in trying times? And my parents are trying to prevent me from getting into that hot soup? I’m not trying to say that I can hear God’s voice clearer than them. Of course, I can’t say that I’m more spiritual than them in any way. It’s just an everyday battle in my life..

At the edge of  at the brink of. An edge is when you’re about to fall over. The decision you make at this point is very crucial. Because you can’t see what’s beyond the edge, you have to decide which way to go. Being at an edge is very dangerous. So… is it turning back? Or trusting God? Brother Fuji has been an inspiration to me. He told me once that he told his camper when they came up to the altar to be prayed for. He said, “coming up here is very dangerous.” When you decide to let go and let God, he will do anything he wants with YOU. Are you sure you want to take that step? Similarly, being at the edge is very dangerous. God will promise to lift you up but that doesn’t mean when he puts you at a higher or lower platform, there’s going to be less edges, in fact, there’s going to be more.
What are the edges in my life this year? Definitely I need to thank God for seeing ben and I through another year. There has been many times when I said to myself, “ok. That’s enough. No more.” But I chose to trust God, and we id go through more rough patches but God brought us true and the relationship became richer.
I thank God also for seeing me through the first full time semester of TCA. The edge for me was to decide whether I should continue to stay in NTU or switch to bible school and I felt God’s prompting and leading so I chose to go full time and I have seen ever since, growth in my spiritual life and have learnt so much more about youths and my own calling. Through writing the papers, although tough, I learnt that I could depend on Him. Without God really, I couldn’t do it.

When I get to  I realize that Gideon didn’t say IF I get to. He was certain. He knew he would have to face the enemy with the little men that he has. He said “When”. We will have our enemies to face. Everyday BEHIND ENEMY LINES.

The word I want to emphasize here however is this..

“Watch me”  Today’s going to be watch night service. But the question is, who are we watching? Why are we watching? And even, What are we watching?
Watching is sensory. What did Gideon say here? He said, watch ME. Gideon is the leader of his army. Who is our leader? Who is my leader? Tonight is a time to readjust my focus back to God. After the spiritual high at the camp and hearing God’s voice, my sine curve went down again. No quiet moments with God anymore. It was all fun and play. Lord, I want to watch YOU tonight. YOU are the star of my life. I wanna get closer Lord, so much closer, Lord to thee. I wanto “Follow Your Lead” and in every situation of my life, “do exactly as [YOU would] do.

“A dance is a very profound means to integrate the internal world with the external world.” Bill T. Jones, dancer/choreographer

“…the poetry of dance is the expression of unseen spiritual grace.”
Stewart Headler (19th century)

“The art of dancing…perhaps more than all other arts, is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace.”
Ruth St. Denis, pioneer of modern dance, founder Sacred Dance Guild

“No, art is not catharsis. Just the opposite: Art is rehearsal. Watching or listening to other people do something is a way of mentally rehearsing it—which makes it easier for us to do the same thing. After all, that’s why businesses spend untold millions of dollars on advertising every year.” Chuck Colson, founder, Prison Fellowship

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
Thomas Merton, Trappist monk, writer

“Art takes the ordinary and alters it in ways which make us see a deeper reality, one of things not merely seen but both implied and inferred. It alters relationships and makes us move off our comfortable center, to see, hear and think anew. Art can, in the hands of great talent, make beauty which reverberates through our lives and carries us into rarified strata. It can shatter our perceptions. It can clarify our anger. It can help us to understand our sorrow…Art provides the channel for those qualities which endure beyond the turmoil of a chaotic and threatened world…In dance, one returns to long forgotten basics: the revelations of non-verbal symbology – the physical knowledge of emotion. The body has been learning since before birth.”
Bella Lewitzky, dancer/choreographer

“I scrub my hands with the purest soap, then join hands with the others in the great circle dancing around your altar, God, Singing God-songs at the top of my lungs, telling God-stories.” David, song writer, king (Psalm 26)

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—which is your spiritual worship.”
Romans 12:1 (NIV)

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.”
Romans 12:1 (The Message)

“The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse.”
James 2:26 (The Message)

“Beauty is not only a terrible thing, it is also a mysterious thing. There God and the Devil strive for mastery, and the battleground is the heart of men.”

Fyodor Dostoyevsky, novelist (The Brothers Karamazov)

hey.. know what i realized... it's been more than a month since i updated...
actually having a blog is pretty cool...
with all the gossip and backstabbing going around when you're this age.. it's hard to even keep a secret.. when u tell something to someone.. you realise that 10 other ppl know about it but they're just keeping mum
what's it with this world and their mouths anyways..
well at least that i have a blog.. i can blog all i want.. say what i want to say... and no one knows.. (or at least i think)

So.. a month has passed.. i've almost completed my papers.. terms over.. exam's over.. but life still sucks.. y do i say that.. coz the only constant thing in this world is... (and every one says).. CHANGE!.. so as climates and seasons change, so do people..

humans... people.. they are the hardest thing to deal with on planet EARTH.. it's hard even to talk sense into them.. well.. not that i'ma genius or sth..

i feel that i'm messing up my life at this point.. there's sos much to decide on.. so many ppl to please... misundersandings upon misunderstandings.. i'm meeting up with so many people and getting involved in so many things that i can't even stop and think who and what's most important to me..

Even my parents think negative now..

It seems as if there are so few ppl there for me.. or m i just too caught up and wasting my time and energy on ppl who won't even care a thing if i'm in trouble?

God, you put ppl into my path.. of course i know it's to mould and build me.. i think you're trying to accelerate it a bit too fast.. haha.. i duno.. it seems like everything is just coming into my life and messing it up so quickly.. before i even clear up the previous mess.. i get myself into another one.. oh well... i just have to work doubly hard and doubly fast..

Clubbing.. right or wrong?

Sometimes.. i just feel that Christians are the ones who judge the most.. coz we have the Bible and we think we are all holy boly roly poly.. that everyone else is wrong.. isn't that judging? i mean.. who are we to say that we're right in the first place?

The bible talks about liberty! not oppression!

i just thought about it today.. if i want to be a successful youth pastor.. i cannot only minister to people whom i like.. or people who are easy to minister to.. or people of a certain characteristic.. i mean.. yea.. there will b certainly strengths in my ministry for example.. i more effective in reaching out to a certain people perhaps.. but i have to even deal with bigger issues.. times are changing and so has the church got to change..

i mean.. Christianity or true conversion is ultimately just about a change of allegience and by following His word.. the Holy Spirit convicts our sinful nature and transformation begins in our lives... but why do some people do it the other way round? - try to get people to change their lifestyle and fit into the 'Christian' culture... THERE IS NO CHRISTIAN CULTURE!! JESUS IS A INTERNATIONAL, INTERCULTURAL GOD!!

My DisCipLe...

havent been writing for a while but i was just very challenged by what Lindy told me to chart my disciple's spiritual growth...

went to visit her (i won't use her name for confidentiality purposes)..

She's really very different from who she is in church.. because she comes just on the dot for service and leaves straight after service.. so i didn't really get to spend personal time with her to get to know her..

one thing i realise... for so long (about a year now)... i don't know her AT ALL...

come youth leaders!! we ineed to get to know our youths!!!

i took a stroll with her around her neighbourhood coz her house was too crowded with people..

she began telling me about her school being a gangster school.. eveyone doesn't doo their homework... pontans school... smokes just outside school.. goes against school rules.. girls roll up their skirts to look less nerdy.. have multiple piercings on their bodies.. peirce their tongue with thumbtacks ... (ok i must share about this... friends... u may hear this.. and get appalled.. but.. you will never know if someone around you and is going through the exact situation right NOW.. what are you going to do about it??? sit down and kiss your ASS!!!!!?????? come on... i dun mean to be mean and vulgar but... don't you think we ought to do something about it???!! i knew a colleague who had multiple body piercings too and i never knew that i would have a youth who is exposed to these too...)

anyway.. not only that... much more horrid stuff than i can ever imagine..

From young she would get beaten everytime something went wrong. Not only would her mum use a cane... her mum would grab every single thing that can be grabbed to hit her... such as a wire, a charger or even a belt.. now sometimes when she gets beaten.. she doesn't even feel the physical pain anymore.. she's immuned...

Her school work isn't looking gd... she's not participating in her extra curricular activities bcoz she doesn't feel like it... she's not doing her homework bcoz she's too tired and lazy...

Dear Lord, i'm not a trained counsellor or any person who is qualified to have help her.. but here am i Lord, send me. If you can Lord, make me a vessel for your use if you can Lord.. i really wanto help.. if i don't help.. i dunoe anyone else who will... Lord... please teach me.. equip me... walk beside me.. i give my life to you for your use Lord...

First Assignment: Due September 5
(second night of class we'll be discussing it)

After reading the Forward and Chapter 1 & 2 of DRAMA MINISTRY, by Steve Pederson, comment by quoting a passage that made you say, "YES! I AGREE!" or "OH, I never thought of it like that." (at least 1 sentence)

I quote from Chapter 1, "Drama, [some people]... argue, shouldn't be part of a traditional worship experience because at the core, worship and entertainment are antithetical." This statement made me say "I never thought of it like that."

Then, respond to at least 4 of the following questions:
You can copy and paste this section below into your "comment" and edit from there, or first copy and paste into a word processing document on your computer to be placed as a comment when you've finished and saved your work on your computer.

CHAPTER 1

1. What did you learn about the history of theatre & the church. Would you like to know more about it?

I learnt that drama in the church is not a new happening. It began as early as in the tenth century, when short dramatic scenes were used in the mass of the Roman Catholic Church. As this means of art gradually developed, it even extended beyond the church whilst the church still exerted its control over the bulk of theatre into the sixteenth century.

However, the relationship between the church and theatre was not all smooth going as the church often struggled with the increasing secularity of drama and made attempts to quell its activities.

I would surely love to know more about the history and the church as i agree with Pederson that much of the church today is once again embracing the value of drama as I am a fervent believer of drama being an immensely powerful tool of communication to transform lives. It also has the ability to stir emotions, evoke responses and unlock the creative mind.

2. After reading this chapeter, what are your thoughts about "entertainment" in the church?

3. Do you have a personal example of the power of drama to break down personal defenses? Tell us about it.

Yes, I do. I shall share a personal example from a different perspective. Pederson shares his example of his friend(s) identifying with a certain role in the drama and hence, remembering a part of his life that he had "covered up". Instead I will tell of how this drama impacted our team who were the performers.

In this sketch, the main character walks into town with her daddy while she heard a commotion going on nearby. She wonders why the man that her daddy said he loved is being stoned and mocked at. At the end, she kneels by the cross and witnesses that man's death and understands that she is the reason that He must die. (The title of the song we used is "Why?" by Nicole Nordeman)

After the performance ended, our team gathered in a circle at the back stage and most of us were weeping. We held hands and began to pray for each other and thanking Jesus for dying on the cross for us. It was an emotional time of praising and loving the Lord together. We were once again flooded by the greatness of Jesus' love for us and filled with reverence for Him because He bore our pain and shed His blood in order that we might be forgiven.

I hope that this is also an example or the power of drama to break down defences. There are more instances but i thought i'd share this as it is the most recent encounter.

4. Do you feel that most believers are vulnerable and seeking to understand God and themselves when worshipping at church? What can be done to break down our defenses and get our whole selves more fully involved in worship?

5. Why does Willow Creek Community Church use contemporary sketches rather than Biblical sketches? Have you ever seen a sketch in worship that didn't "share the gospel?" What are your opinions about the Willow Creek philosophy?

CHAPTER 2

6. Do you agree that drama seems the "easiest" of the arts. Why?

No, i do not agree. I vividly recall my first attempt at playing a small role for one of the dramas in church. I only had to recite a few lines in one of our sketches. Not only did my whole body tense up, so did my lips. The words which i thought i had memorized didn't come out. Subsequently during rehearsals, whenever i concentrated on the words, the feelings didn't show and vice versa. It did not seem as easy as it looked.

Secondly, I concur with Pederson that the biggest obstacle to raise the quality of drama is the “lack of skilled leadership”. Being passionate about a something does not equate to being able to do it. Sometimes, watching another person act, sing, dance or direct may paint a false image that it is easy to do. Skilled leadership in a sense also means exercising much prayer and wisdom to carefully discern a person’s ability to take charge of the drama ministry. Without a capable leader and good guidance, even ‘world-class’ actors become of little significance.

Thidly, in comparison with the rest of the arts, all are challenging in their own ways but to label drama as the "easiest" of the arts is not at all justifiable. Let us compare singing and drama. The basic skills such as relaxation, concentration, imagination, memorization and observation are arguably present in both the art. However, I believe that memorization of words would be a lot simpler if you put a melody or rhythm to it, hence i can say that singing has a slight advantage over drama in this case, making it an "easier" art in a sense.

7. What happens to the audience when watching a well done drama. Why?

8. Have you ever sought feedback or critique of your dramatic work? Did it help you? How?

Yes. I usually present my idea and concept of the drama to more experienced people for feedback before i embark on it and gather the resources required. At each rehearsal, there would always be a debrief among the team before our final closing prayer for the same purpose. Finally, after the drama is finished, we would seek feedback from friends, families and other audiences.

Objective criticism collected will always be put to good use and i share the same thoughts as Pederson that "we end up learning more about the craft of drama when comments area less than positive." Most of the time, we just have to be prepared for comments that are not pleasant to the ears.

It helps me to be more confident of myself and my team's ability when positive comments are given, and at the same time, it constantly reminds me of the need to keep myself humble and recognize my areas of weaknesses. It might be due to the probability that rehearsal times were too short, or it could also be a communication problem between members that stifled our teamwork. Another common possibility is the fact that we did not give enough priority to prayer, both individually and cohesively and hence we were not united and strong spiritually.

Well, from there, we moved on.

Why do people resist or not seek feedback?

I quote Pederson, "Too often, I fear, our pride and insecurity get in the way, becoming hindrances to hearing and accepting valid critique." It is evident that there is a certain amount of pride in each one of us. We do not want to be put down because we are sensitive beings, it will hurt our pride. In another sense, we do not have or are not being taught to exercise grace when receiving not so positive feedback. It seems as if the world has programmed our mind to think negatively of such criticisms. At worst, if criticism that is given is hard and harsh, it crushes our self-image and causes us to think lowly of ourselves.

The saying goes, 'once bitten, twice shy.' These bad experiences could have contributed to the resistances people fence up.

Complete this sentence: "A critique session is helpful only when you come away with some understanding of the craft of drama ."

9. What does Steve Pederson mean by "Abusing the Art Form"?

10. How does the author describe Melodrama?

11. Do you agree that churches "hide" from the downside of life? Would you say that most churches are "addicted to playing it safe." What has been your personal experience with this?

12. What is your opinion of the "Less is More" concept?

ExOrCiSm

The National Geographic Channel has this programme on Monday nights titled "Is it Real?" and this week's episode discussed about whether demon possession actually exists.

Can people actually get demon possessed?

What you think? i think it's a topic worth exploring.

My personal belief is yes. The bible teaches us about Jesus commanding the evil spirits out of the demon possessed man and the evil spirits entered the pigs which ran into the water together. The name of the evil spirit is called "Legion".

Let's talk a little bit about legion. According to Tyndale Bible Dictionary, it likens legion to a unit of the Roman army. In NT times, the standard size of the legion was 6000 men. Because it represented a large body of men, the word "legion" came to be used symbolically for an indefinate large number; this use occurs four times in the NT. In the story about the demoniac in the country of the Gerasenes, Jesus asked the man, "What is your name?" and the reply was, "My name is Legion, for we are many." (Mk5:9,15; Lk8:30; cf.Mt 12:45; Lk8:2) ...The word "legion" is... used in the NT... [to represent]... spiritual powers of evil that oppose men.

So we have established that demon possession is real. Then how does it happen to a person?

According to the same source...
some people are demonized by a hereditary curse, which may continue in the third or fourth generation(ex20:5).
The curse of illegitimacy was particularly strong for the bastard could not enter the congregation of Isreal until the tenth generation(Dt23:2)
Curses may also be placed upon someone by spells, incantations, or similar practices such as voodoo or other forms of witchcraft.
Gal 3:13 speaks of redemption from the curse of the law through Christ's having "become a curse" for us. Unusually believers are immune form curses made against them, unless they have grounds to the devil (Eph 4:27). Such grounds include drugs, illicit sex, occultic practices, or any other avenue forbidden in the Bible. Involvement with tarot cards, horoscopes, or any form of fortune telling may give demons opportunity to enter.

Such contacts may seem innocuous, but Satan utilizes the smallest foothold to gain advantage over people.

But what do other people think?

In this episode, there was a case study about this real case in the US. A boy had been toying with the Ouija board to try to contact his aunt. Strange things began happening such as the pictures shifting, the bed making unusual noises, footsteps, immense strength, and moments where he breaks into fits. When the priest conducted a few rounds of exorcism on him, everything went back to normal.

Here are some of the comments i've gathered from the people being interviewed...

"People do not actually get demon possessed. It can all be some form of a mental illness. The boy was known to be a notorious boy and so he might have been putting up a show to get attention. When he got the attention, he was satisfied."

"If it is a mental illness, going through exocism will not make it go away, seeing a psychiatrist would. If it is demon possession then seeing a psychiatrist will not do the trick either, exocism would."

"We have tried to plant false memories into people such as being part of satanic rituals and it worked. People started to remember situations whereby they havent even been through themselves. Therefore, if people say that they've been part of an occultic group or satanic rituals, there is a possibility that they've never actually experienced it before." -Psychiatrist

Bob Larson, a renowned minister in the Christian circle was interviewed as he tried to defend the faith.

So, have you made your stand? Not yet, then i urge you to start thinking about it.

We do know that exorcism was part of Jesus' ministry and he commanded his followers and disciples to do likewise.

i also coached English to a girl from China.. She hasn't yet gone to a primary school so i'm helping to kickstart her learning process..

There was some amusement yesterday too..
Eaton and Max and "gang" acted as marshals to keep the little ones quiet when they were having their tea break.. standing up was only first degree punishment.. the worse one was standing facing the wall having to keep silent too.. until glenda cried.. oh well.. a little pacifying would do the trick

So much for my first day... i'll b off in 5 mins! looking forward to my second day at work! keep me in your prayers!!

P/s.. i got a little scolding coz i wasn't suppose to b videotaping the little ones which i did coz i couldn't resist their cuteness!! haha..

dEaReSt XiAoMei

Dearest xiao mei..

Jie misses you alot.. not only i miss you.. God misses you too..

M praying and hoping that you would turn away from what the world does. Drinking, partying till late at night, sleep around and stuff. Yes, it is appealing but you will never know how much it pains and hurts me and your friends who truly care for you. You do not understand how much it hurts Jesus to see you like that, indulging in the cares of this world, mixing around with people who live to enjoy the moment. Not that enjoying the moment is bad.. but their values and standing are vastly different from us. We can associate with them but not with what they do. We do not hate them but merely hate what they do.

U said that no matter how crazy you become you have your limits.. everybody says that before a party.. every drunk person says that they're not drunk too.. one will never realise that she has crossed the line until she crosses it..

At the end of the day. It's your choice to make. I'm not sure if you know what the Bible says about blending in with the world. Rom 12:1,2.. But i will always be praying that you come home..

come home to the arms that will never fail to carry through all of life's journey.. that's Jesus.

The "younger" generation of ppl had a table to ourselves.. namely Lindy (who came late), evan (who also came late), shawn, jordan, caleb chan, amos, melissa, jackson and kenny gan and me or course!..

We sang a mix of cheena songs and english songs.. had some videos and pictures taken but havent got them yet.. haha.. but it was great.. the old timers like uncle stanley sang really old school songs like country road, greeen green grass, unchained melody and others... whereas the hipsters like us sang ah mei's songs, and emil chow's songs (quite old school too but not that old).. too bad they didn't have jay chow if not melissa would have a chance to sing.. but i think she did enjoy herself too..

there were 3 main highlights yesterday.. these people got awards for.... THE BEST DANCE GROUP, THE BEST ASPIRING TRANSLATOR and THE BEST DUET?

The best dance group category award went to the "Do, Re, Me and Fa" group which comprised of a soloist, aunty Ruth, and the dancers.. Do (Amos), Re (Deniece), and Me (Melissa) who sang and danced to the song I WILL FOLLOW HIM by XXX

The best aspiring translator category was won by A-MOSQUITO! ok.. no i'm just kidding.. His name is AMOS!!.. He captured the laughters of the whole restaurant by translating the whole song UNCHAINED MELODY into Hokkien!?!?!?! yeap! Take it away man! "Wa Ai... Wa Ai Li Eh Sim Ah!" was one line that was translated from the original "I Need Your Love.."

Bring it On! The Duos that got the best duet award was none other than Jackson and Kenny G.!! They rocked the house with.. er.. all the other songs that was dedicated but no one sang.. oh well.. anyway... they won the award for singing with lotsa GUSTO and PASSION.. (despite the splitting pants.. but i won't say who.. keep guessing!!)
and finally... i forgot to mention... the most important award...

The MOST Romantic Singer!!!!!!!!!! He's none other than my beloved COUSIN!! Shawn Chow!! He took her away with "DUI MIAN DE NU HAI KAN GUO LAI" hOOray!! Applauses please!! Well.. the nu hai didn't really "kan guo lai" although he tried his best to reach every high note especially in the chorus.. The lyrics were just apt to describe his feelings ya? "WO ZUO KAN YOU KAN, SHANG KAN XIA KAN... YUAN LAI MEI GE NU HAI DOU BU JIAN DAN" .. haha.. i tried my best to get a picture of him singing with her in the pic but she kept looking down to her food.. guess she was playing shy??? haha.. Hopefully she will recipocrate... (*winks)

Well.. u think that's all?

The Finale item closed the whole event with a bang!!!! bang!!! bang!!!

Our team Screeeeaaaammmmed to the song by Bon Jovi, yeap you guessed it! "IT'S MY LIFE!".. we went "jeng! jeng!" (imitating the electric guit).. and changed some of the lyrics... we couldn't make sense of the name Frankie in there so we changed it to.. "Like PASTOR said.. I did it my way" and we also didn't think Tommy and Gina made sense... so we sang "For ALAN and GINA who never backed down"... haha.. go on! laugh! ok.. stop laughing..

Right... so sad to say.. we've come to another end of an exciting episode of Karaoke to the max!! Make sure you catch us next time!! Bye bye!!

Get Right...
For some of us who are in discipleship group would have shared about our reflections on Pastor's messages about seeing through God's eyes and speaking as God speaks..
Well.. i didn't really share much because i guess it is rather personal..
BY THE WAY.. BEFORE I CONTINUE.. FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY KNOW MY BLOG.. DO NOT.. I REPEAT.. DO NOT LINK MY BLOG TO ANYWHERE.. iT's my personal space cum journal so if anyone asks you for my blog or anything.. don't lie and say you don't know my blog.. just say that's it's confidential.. ok? thanks!
Ok.. so we continue from here.. yep.. my reflections usually concern the issues i'm facing which would concern my circle of friends.. so i couldn't express myself as much yesterday as everyone would know who i'm refering to..
Well.. i've pretty much been thinking about my previous entry about the snatcher a.k.a. "a new friend".. mebbe it wasn't very nice of me to call her the great and mighty one.. i mean.. it's out right mocking her.. i guess i must learn to develop a kingdom mentality and not a "i, me, my" focus hoarding my treasures.. and mebbe evan is right.. it doesn't mean when someone chooses to go out with someone else means you're less important.. mebbe that new friend really has no other close people to share her life with and she feels that your friend is the best person to talk to..
i got news also saying that that new friend has ever offended other people before because she so called "snatched" away or became very close to GUY when GIRl and GUY were hanging out.. (in other words.. i'm not the only one feeling this way toward her.. the same scenario happened before)
Well.. i have to get over this issue soon or else i would never be able to function in the same environment as her..

A new friend

Someone once told me this when i was 15 i think..
"A new friend always seems more interesting.."
Well... don't you think so? even if you've been together with a friend for the longest time.. and someone else new comes into the picture.. that new person always gets the first attention..
i think i mentioned in my previous entry that i learned not to be too attached to people or else the hurt will be greater..
yea yea.. christians always say that that's not true... you shouldn't think or feel that way.. don't isolate yourself.. et cetera..
what can i say? i'm only human!! hey!!! you peeps!!! i'm exactly like you!! all flesh!!
Jim told me.. he can never understand blogs that make people confused and you can hardly understand what the entry is talking about or who it is refering to..
maybe this entry is a fine example..
you never know who's reading it.. yea.. you never know..
let's write a poem..
Great, oh mighty snatcher of all times..Great and wonderous mighty flatulent snatcher that thinketh ye ruleth the universe where the sun, moon and stars would bow down to you..
The wholly wholly Great one..Never i meant to challenge you.. Though it grieves me that she chose you over me..Nor m i to be jealous for thy word teacheth..You will nv know... nv know...how much you hurt me..For i will nv tell... nv tell..of your i-d-e-n-t-i-t-y..
Great.. Great.. oh mighty one.. i may be that star that boweth down to you someday..
or will i not?

hey hey.. thanks Guan for the advice..
we're given until friday for the matriculation.. and i'll be meeting up with my dad later to discuss about my path from now onwards..
Lord, i prayed that you close all the doors that were not meant for me.. what do you actually want me to do? What do you want me to be? Lord, i pray, not my will but yours be done.. Now that only English is open to me.. should i go and complete my 4 years in uni and then serve you full time? or should i just go straight into Bible school and pursue my interests at night? Lord, who am i to decide for myself? Please, send people to talk to me and to guide me.. Thank you Lord for Mel.. she has given me well advice.. Thank you Lord for aunty Ruth who spent time talking to me too... Thank you Lord for my parents.. i will not be able to live without them.. Thank you Lord for ben who constantly teaches me how to let my speech be seasoned with grace..
Thank you Lord for leading me all the days of my life.. i need you now Lord to help me make straight the rest of my ways.. This is probably the first time in my life i feel i need you the most.. of course i do need you every day.. but this time i don't want to hear the wrong voice that's calling out in my heart Lord... help me..

BEAUTIFUL STORY OF DREAMS

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when theThe first tree said, "Someday, I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems and be decorated with intricate carvings. Everyone would see my beauty."The second tree said, "Someday, I will be a mighty ship. I will take Kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull."Finally, the third tree said, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time, and people will always remember me."After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. One came to the first tree and said, "This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter," and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest. At the second tree, one of the other woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree. I should be able to sell it to the shipyard." The a second tree was happy, because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship. When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened, because it knew that, if it was cut down, its dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree, so I'll take this one," and he cut it down. When the first tree arrived at the carpenter's, he was made into a feed box for animals, placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for. The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end.
The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark. The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams. Then a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth, and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event? and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time.Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose, and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and he stood and said "Peace," and?the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat. Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets, and the crowd mocked the man who was carrying it. Finally, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. At that time, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it. The moral of this story is that, when things don't seem to be going your way,?always know that God has a plan for you and He is in control. You need to place your trust in Him. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us... but just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best!
Sometimes the heart sees what the eyes can't. Try seeing with your heart.

"if you do a major in Literature, it doesn't mean you have to ony just go into the teaching arena.. you can still do things you wanna do after you graduate.. it's the traning of the analytical mind.. People in our school of Communications and Information do not all go into this line of communication studies.. "
These were the words of Ms Susan Lai.. The Senior Manager of The School of Communication and Information Studies, NTU, Singapore..
What a consolation to a broken hearted person who couldn't get into Comm Studies BECAUSE OF ACADEMIC GRADES..
Come on!! people who do not intend to pursue the media industry, get your butts out of Comms!!! you're taking up vacancies!! sigh.... what use is there now...
yea yea... "face the reality" says my mom... "you didn't get the grades, so don't blame anyone else"...
Now, that was a better consolation.. or wasn't it?
She nagged all the way home from NTU.. excellent... now what... they're going to send me overseas?
My thoughts are all smashed and broken... my hopes.... my dreams... my aspiration... crushed my 2 words... ACADEMIC GRADES
"With all my hopes and desires, with all the dreams that i dreamt.. with all i'm hoping to be.. with all that the world will bring..." rings the melody of Hillsong's "I've got a Saviour" from their God He Reign's cd..
Sure... i'll learn... learn how to be analytical and judgemental...why not?

Back fRom NTUCF 06

ok!! today.. hmmz.. had a great service.. despite the fact that i was so tired i almost fell aslp during sermon... we were witnesses to the manifestation of gold dust.. during service.. it's very miraculous..

after service.. youth went for outdoor praise and worship session at the esplanade bay.. when we got there.. there was a suddn heavy downpour but we pressed on and pressed in!! singing praises to God all the way.. then finally when we sang shawn's "praise" the clouds had passed.. i was a bit stinky after that but oh well.. nothing beats worshipping the Lord. So we had an awesome time singing as well as hearing from aunty Ruth who shared the word.. on Joshua 1:8.. meditating on the word day and night...

Then KE and i had to leave for COR's concert.. by the time we got there.. we missed the first few items coz we had trouble finding our way... nevertheless.. the rest of it was quite enjoyable.. i videoed the dance items.. to learn the steps... The Pastor from St John St Margs delivered the word.. and it was a new perspective on the meaning of LIFE.. he said that LIFE = God with us + God for us.. hopefully though HM didn't put up her hand for salvation, the seed is planted...
ok.. now for the real gist of my entry..

NTUCF 2006..
i won't like go in detail about the whole camp... but this is what i took away..
FOOD + FUN + FELLOWSHIP!!!

The food was excellent!! we had food "ta-bao-ed" for us from Changi Village Hawker Centre.. how to beat that? haha.. such as Chicken Cutlet Hor Fun, the famous Nasi Lemak... and on the last day.. we had Pizza!!!!!! all the meals came with fresh cut oranges and watermelons!!

The Fun was great... the sessions and games were good.. our theme was being Salt and Light.. and to respond to the calling of being disciples.. Pastor Francis Sithu from SAC shared.. and i am now learning to consecrate my life..
The discussion within our group was also very spontaneous and open.. which everyone managed to receive encouragement from one another.. and also a chance to get to know everyone better..

Games was not bad.. very well organised.. we had "Exodus to the Promise Land" which was basically completing a task at each station.. then came the captain's ball, night games and finally the bible quiz.. thanks Carlsen!
Fellowship was great too.. we played an angel and mortal game and it turned out that my group leader was my angel!! haha... so funny... coz i was complaining to my group that my angel wasnt doing his work... anyway.. if u understand.. Besides that... Taboo bonded us together at the last night too...
I left camp at 3 am with JT to head to the airport.. coz she needed to send her friend off.. i just "nua-ed" there until 6 am to take the first bus.. haha.. dunow what i was thinking.. *SIaNz* bLuRrEd*..

Here's a clip of what happened.. thanks Mabel!

Let'S gO!

Hey.... gen wo qu hai bian!! (which means come with me to the sea)!!
We had a wonderful time when xi le quan came down to perform.. or rather do ministry in our church..
that's my favourite song.. Let's Go!! super hip hoppy..
okee...
so.. y did i call this entry "Let's Go!" ? reason being is that i'm going to keep my blog updated for my DGs!! (aka Discipleship Group) to be a way for us to take a peek into each other's lives.. so..
Here we go!
Will be gone for a couple of days as i'll be going to NTU Christian Fellowship camp (NTUCF) and will only be back on friday! keep me updated with your comments and posts.. i wanna know what's going on in your lives too!!

well.. not many know that i even exist now..
sometimes i see the world all having fun in their own ways and i ask myself
why can't i have the same enjoyment..
i mean yea.. i go to church and all.. but the friends in church are just so different from the world.. not that it's bad but many of them are still not set free in praise yet
i mean.. look at how the world sing and dance..
look at how the church sings and dances..
if only..
i could just bring that zest and enthusiasm to the church.. so that no one would be ashamed to bring people with them into this fun environment
Lord.. help me.

Time aftEr tiMe

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick, And think of you Caught up in circles confusion-- Is nothing new Flashback--warm nights-- Almost left behind Suitcases of memories, Time after-- Sometimes you picture me-- I'm walking too far ahead You're calling to me, I can't hear What you've said-- Then you say--go slow-- I fall behind-- The second hand unwinds Chorus: If you're lost you can look--and you will find me Time after time If you fall I will catch you--I'll be waiting Time after time After my picture fades and darkness has Turned to gray Watching through windows--you're wondering If I'm OK Secrets stolen from deep inside The drum beats out of time-- Chorus: If you're lost... You said go slow-- I fall behind The second hand unwinds-- Chorus: If you're lost......Time after time Time after time ,Time after time,Time after time

Its always been a mystery to me, How two hearts can come together, And love can last forever. But now that I have found you I believe, That a miracle has come when God sends the perfect one. So gone are all my questions about why, And i've never been so sure of anything in my life
~chorus~
Oh I wonder what God was thinking, when he created you.I wonder if He knew everything I would need, Because he made all my dreams come true. When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.
(Girls)
Ooo ooo,I promise that wherever you may go, wherever life may lead you, With all my heart I'll be there too. And from this moment on I want you to know, I'll let nothing come between us, and I will love the ones you love. (guy):So gone are all my questions about why (girl echoes):about why
Duet:Oh I wonder what God was thinking when he created you, I wonder if He knew everythin I would need, Because He made all my dreams come true. When God made you He must've been thinking about me.
Bridge
He made the sun He made the moon, To harmonize a perfect tune, One can't do without the other they just have to be together. And that is how I know its true, Your for me and i'm for you and my world Just cant be right without you in my life
Chorus
(guy) He must have heard every prayer I've been praying (girl echo) I've been praying (both)He must've knew everything I would need
When God made you, He must've been thinking about me.

In this atmosphere- where worship ushers in the presence of God- four critically important things take place.
First, the word becomes incarnated in people; it becomes life, not just intellectual exercise.
Second, people are healed in the ongoing pattern of God's presence.
Third, they come to know the Lord as His kingdom is established.
Finally, as God empowers His people, their worship crowds out the borders of hell's domain.
When we come together in a worship service, God's people are built up as a habitation for His presence, as the "living stones" of His temple. Through our worship, as intimate and vibrant relationship with the living God is made possible: His assignment for us as His "royal priesthood" is restored; we become ministering agents of His resurrection life to the world; and we are enabled to move in the expanding dominion and rulership He intended for humankind from the beginning.
wow... i didn't know there was that much power in worship... Hallelujah~!

6When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!" 9For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon's partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be afraid; from now on you will catch men." 11So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

Report on the Shadow Industry

just did my lit p8 yesterday... and i got a feeling i won't do so well.. don't know why... mebbe it's becoz my english isn't v gd which makes it harder for me to express my thoughts in words. Moreover, i was quite panicky yesterday and struggled to keep my thoughts together. The prose wasn't tt bad. But i'm not really sure of the comparative. Well, a part of me thinks that i'm writing out of point. Oh well, what's over IS over
the prose was entitled "Report on the Shadow Industry". didn't really dare ask anyone what their interpretation of the prose was, in hopes that i'll at least get a pass. ok, so i went to check if google had anything at all to offer. it seemed that this title fell under the genre of science fiction (sci-fi). Yupz, i did make mention of technological advancement, progress and indulged quite a bit in materialism as well.. wonder if i'll get penalised.
so... second entry of my blog so far. Hopefully, i'll be able to write in as frequent as possible. somehow i'm reminded of winston smith, the guy who kept a forbidden diary in 1984. thank God i don't live in such an age. Now, we have opendiaries! and online diaries! and many many more diaries! lolx....
had a GREAT time a kbox yesterday.. really felt quite lonely coz school friends all went their own separate ways and ben couldn't accompany me bcoz of sch.. thankfully, evan responded and yea! we spent 3 and a 1/2 hours at kbox JEC.. saw the superstar gang but couldn't really be bothered. i think she's the person whom i feel most comfortable singing with coz it doesn't matter if i go out of tune or anithing. there isn't the expectation factor just becoz we've sort of known each other for so long.. these were my favourite songs that we sang yest
Piao Xue (Canto.. sang by evan)
Chu Jia (Canto.. Me!)
Bao Bei Dui Bu Qi (together! by the grasshoppers.. chinese please)
When I Fall in Love (Lovely..)
Hui Jia (by Shunzi.. the harmonizing was superb!!)
yep!! the top 5 on the charts for now!!
then in the night.. ben and i discussed a bit about me being too engrossed with whatever i'm doing that i don't pay attention to anyone or anything happening around me.. his words did hurt a little.. probably that was a totally understandable human response to my words which had hurt him a few hours before. but what i'm really grateful was that he was still humble enough to apologise in the end.. of course i did to (the major hoo-haa was caused my me).. love him lots.. and lots..
i'm in the midst of making my 'tang-shui' if u know what tt means.. wil b bringing it to aunt Amy's plc later on..

BANG! somthing different yea? haha... my personal favourites and ZHANG hui mei, COCO and SHUN zi(but she's really da best.. still aiming high)... after the recent superstar which i've got influenced by applie to watch.. i've learnt alot and.. it's not so much for the fame that i love music but really.. it's about listening to the heart.. ok.. it's late now and i pretty much don't know what i'm talking about now.. blurred and tired after all the swimming and eating... haha.. applie and i spent a whole time eating at KFC.. thinking of creative poses... we're gg to enter the favourite KFC moment contest!!! 5 grand prizes and 500 consolation prizes to be won!!!!! i can't wait!! oh well.. even if we don't win... no big deal... the competition is free anyways... lolx... There is only one devotion, to God. My belief, strong and unmovable. I believe in God, the only creator of the universe, the only creator of you and me. Through God, all things hold together. But the Godhead does not only consist of one person, he shares a divine relationship with His son, Jesus Christ, whom he sent to die for us and His Spirit, who is the paraclete to all mankind. If there's one thing i want to share with everyone i know, that is the good news. Christ did it, we receive it. There is nothing greater in this world than knowing his love for us.
