Desert Song

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” -Shakespeare

Spending a day at TURF CITY

Hun brought me to TURF CITY last weekend! It was so much fun... just like watching the mini F1 race. ooo... i was so excited that I started waving my arms in the air to cheer the racers on till I got 'suan-ed' by my hunny for the display of my massive 'bye-bye fats' on my arms. Lol.

Well, I'll upload the pic soon. Blogger is having some problems.

I'm soooo looking forward to seeing my hunny this weekend! I think I'm gonna cook for him!

Just some photos I took last week at Backbeats..

My email to my friends :)

Hi friends,

I just want to keep you in the loop of things! I've been very blessed by the sermon last week and I really enjoyed cell Sunday because it gave each one of us the opportunity to talk about our faith journeys. And as we were sharing, I felt moved by what the Lord is speaking to the different people in my group as they shared their powerful testimonies. I was deeply encouraged.

I hope that the little nuggets of pointers will help you along in your faith journey too. At the end of this email are the two questions that we discussed last Sunday in small groups and I hope that you will be able to share with us your thoughts too! We all need encouragers!

TRANSFORMING FAITH

Scripture: Hebrews 11:1-3 (MSG)

1-2The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.

3By faith, we see the world called into existence by God's word, what we see created by what we don't see.

  1. Vision/Revelation
  2. Confession
  3. Action
  4. Reality/Realisation
    • For the vision/revelation of faith to become reality, confession and action must take place, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
    • Sometimes the way you want reality to come to pass will not happen your way.
    • Romans 16-22
  5. Glorification
    • We must glorify God in everything we do.

  • Our faith must be proven, through trials and testings.
  • "Faith is a fact. Faith is an act."
Question 1: What has been your greatest transformation since you know the Lord?
Question 2: What are some ways we can develop our faith?

This is a very exciting sermon series that will be continued next month, so keep a look out for it! We hope to hear on your thoughts about FAITH. Let us encourage one another!

Regards,
Deniece Foo

Quotes from Fight Lke a Girl, Chapter 5

“He offered me everything in exchange for my broken body and empty, hardened heart. Before Him, my life was a series of shallow gasps, but when His love flooded my being, it was as though I could breathe deeply at last.”

“Most women serve their children and train their husbands, rather than the other way around.”

“Relationships are not viewed as sacred, but rather as a commodity to be exploited. This type of behaviour shows displaced trust in others, rather than trust in God.”

“In His presence, all disappointments and expectations are laid to rest. There I am embraced for who I am, not for what I do… I find a more accurate reflection because my worth comes from Him alone.”

Quotes from Fight Like A Girl, Chapter 4

"the man can initiate conception, but there must be a woman to both carry the life and bring it forth. The woman cannot begin life without the man, and the man cannot complete life without the woman."

"There is an amazing combination found when you marry strength with beauty, authority with wisdom, male with female. It was always God's idea... two with one heart. Together, we realize a multiplication of our strengths."

"The man's strength was never meant to be used against woman, but for her. Superior strength was given to men to protect and provide for women in their lives. Their strength was never meant to be an instrument of domination or abuse. Weak, confused, powerless men abuse women."

Some quotes from THE SHACK

Chapter 1, pg 15

There is something joyful about storms that interrupt routine… releases you from expectations, performance demands… appointments and schedules.

There will be no apologies needed for not showing up to some commitment or other.

Chapter 2, pg 29

He was a rich man, he thought to himself, in all the ways that mattered.

Chapter 3, pg 64-65

It is so easy to get sucked into the if-only game, and playing it is a short and slippery slide into despair.

Chapter 3, pg 68

Sometimes honesty can be incredibly messy.

Chapter 6, pg 95

Truth has a name… Everything is about him. And freedom is a process that happens inside a relationship with him. Then all that stuff you feel churnin around inside will start to work its way out.

Chapter 6, pg 96

Love always leaves a significant mark… We were there together.

Chapter 6, pg 97

Living unloved is like clipping a bird’s wings and removing its ability to fly… Pain has a way of clipping our wings and keeping us from being able to fly... And if left unresolved for very long, you can almost forget that you were created to fly in the first place.

Chapter 6, pg 101

Who wants to worship God who can be fully comprehended… Not much mystery in that.

Chapter 6, pg 101

All love and relationship is possible for you only because it already exists within Me, within God myself. Love is not the limitation; love is the flying. I am love.

Chapter 6, pg 101

The God who is – the I am who I am – cannot act apart from love!

Chapter 13, pg 188

Let her forgiveness heal you. Ask her to pray for you… Take the risks of honesty. When you mess up again, ask for forgiveness again. It’s a process… and life is real enough without having to be obscured by lies.

Chapter 13 pg 189

That is the risk of faith… Faith does not grow in the house of certainty… My life inside of you will appropriate risk and uncertainty to transform you by your own choices into a truth teller, and that will be a miracle greater than raising the dead.

Chapter 13, pg 189

I used your choices to work perfectly in my purposes…My purposes are always to work life out of death, to bring freedom out of brokenness and turn darkness into light. What you see as chaos, I see as a fractal. All things must unfold, even though it puts all those I love in the midst of a world of horrible tragedies – even the one closest to me.

Chapter 13, pg 192

Give the man an inch, and he thinks he’s a ruler.

Chapter 14, pg 197

Paradigms power perception and perceptions power emotions.

Chapter 14, pg 206

The idea behind expectations requires that someone does not know the future or outcome and is trying to control behaviour to get the desired result.

Chapter 14, pg 206

The trouble with living by priorities is that it sees everything as a hierarchy, a pyramid… If you put God at the top, what does that really mean and how much is enough?

My photo
There is only one devotion, to God. My belief, strong and unmovable. I believe in God, the only creator of the universe, the only creator of you and me. Through God, all things hold together. But the Godhead does not only consist of one person, he shares a divine relationship with His son, Jesus Christ, whom he sent to die for us and His Spirit, who is the paraclete to all mankind. If there's one thing i want to share with everyone i know, that is the good news. Christ did it, we receive it. There is nothing greater in this world than knowing his love for us.
